Moms-to-be in the Inland Empire have access to one of the country's top-rated hospitals for maternity care and post-natal services.
St. Bernardine Medical Center's mother/baby care was recently ranked among the top 5 percent of hospitals in the nation, according to a leading health care ratings organization. And now, we've also received a Baby-Friendly USA Hospital designation, an honor earned by select few nationwide.

St. Bernardine's Maternal-Child Health services now ranks among the top in the nation with two quality care distinctions. The hospital also has Baby-Friendly® status.
|
To achieve this Baby-Friendly status, we designed our care around 10 proven best practices that provide our patients with a high level of breast-feeding support and education, in the hospital and in the first crucial months of a baby's life. This involves many behind-the-scenes processes and procedures, and significant and specialized education and training for our staff.
There are also many new initiatives that have an immediate and lasting impact on mom and baby. Implementation of our "Golden Hour" in labor and delivery, for example, provides parents and baby the opportunity for privacy and support to initiate breast-feeding within one hour of birth. In patient rooms, we have nurses educating patients at the bedside and beyond. Educational programs and support groups help moms maintain their breast-feeding and care for their new babies as long as they have a need.
St. Bernardine will also be opening a Baby & Family Center, providing expanded space and privacy for the Breast-feeding Clinic and education program as well as prenatal education classes. The Center will also offer support groups, outreach education, parenting classes, yoga and more.
